How Serious Is Your Pain?

One of the biggest factors chiropractors look at when creating a treatment plan is the nature of the patient’s pain. Serious injuries or problems that have gone untreated for a long time will most likely require more frequent and intensive treatment.

So, what are you going in for?

Where is the pain located? How bad does it hurt?

Is it constant or does it come and go? Does it only hurt when you move?

When did you first notice the pain? Has it gotten better, worse, or stayed the same? Do you have any recent or past injuries associated with the affected area?

Your answers to every one of these questions will affect the type of treatment you need and the treatment schedule.

Your Lifestyle Can Affect Your Treatment Schedule

Your lifestyle can affect your spine, neck, and back health. Thus, it can also affect your treatment and treatment schedule.

Take your job for instance. Do you do a lot of heavy lifting throughout the day? Or do you sit for several hours in an uncomfortable office chair that makes your back sore?

Such things will increase how often you need your back adjusted. On the other hand, if you have good posture and a lifestyle that isn’t so physically demanding, you won’t need treatment as frequently.

Examples of What to Expect from Your Treatment

A somewhat serious condition like a slipped disc or an injury may require multiple chiropractic visits per week at the start. Of course, one of the benefits of chiropractic adjustments is that they improve or eliminate such conditions eventually. Thus, after the condition/symptoms are more-or-less stabilized, this frequency will decrease to every one or two weeks.

Less serious conditions may only require chiropractic adjustment once per month. This includes conditions that were serious but have been improved through treatment.

As stated, how hard your lifestyle is on your back health will also affect these treatment intervals.
