Top 5 Streaming Services to Help you Cancel Cable

Hands down, these are the top five best streaming services that just might entice you give up your cable subscription for good.

Netflix is still the great granddaddy of streaming services. It’s also the best service for your money, though it costs more than Hulu and some other services. No other service can yet compete with Netflix in terms of selection, quality and performance consistency. Netflix offers award winning original programming, and the TV series and movie choices are vast. It also provides recommendations based on your past viewing history that are actually–GREAT! You can even create up to five different profiles on a single account to make sure that your loved ones and friends’ viewing habits don’t mess up your recommendations

Hulu provides access to most major network shows and some cable shows the day after they air. It also lets subscribers access a show’s current season — or often all of the program’s seasons. In addition, the service hosts a number of original shows including award winners such as Handmaid’s Tale, a good selection of independent movies, and a surprising amount of classic anime series. Even with a paid subscription, you have to sit through commercials, but far fewer than if you watched the same shows on cable

Amazon Prime is a no-brainer. For $99 per year, you get free two-day shipping on your purchases, a free Kindle book each month, and unlimited access to both Amazon Music and Amazon Prime Instant Video. Like Netflix, Amazon Video is a veritable buffet of movies, television and original programming. Though Amazon seldom offers new releases, the other benefits make this a good investment for regular Amazon shoppers.

PlayStation Vue is a good streaming service for those who just can’t leave the multi-channel live TV setup behind. The service is available on a wide variety of systems and basically gives live TV viewing to its customers. There are four different packages ranging from about $50 – $75 per month, depending on the number of channels you choose. Although the service is more expensive, it has the benefit of providing up to 90 live channels, and you can record your favorite shows unlike Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon services.

Sling TV can provide a happy medium for you if you’re hesitant about giving up your cable TV because it operates much like a cable service. Sling is especially nice for sports fans because it offers a variety of ESPN channels. If you sign up for Sling Blue and bundle it with the more bare-bones Orange, the combination will cost you $40 per month. It can, however, become more expensive if you add more channels.

Now, more than ever, there are lots of fabulous options for those of you ready to ditch your cable TV service!
