What Are the Different Types of Dental Treatments That Exist Today?

About half of Americans don’t visit the dentist at all and about 24% see the dentist once a year or less on average. This is because some people have the mindset that it’s not worth it or expensive.

While visiting the dentist regularly is important, not everyone wants to hear about cavities that are completely normal.

Once you learn about all of the dental treatments and procedures available today, it might inspire you to schedule an appointment.

What are the different types of dental treatments? Let’s take a look at everything that encompasses the dental industry.

Dental Implants

One of the most popular and effective dental procedures is dental implants.

Dental implants are artificial teeth in the jawbone. They will look and function like natural teeth. They are also a great treatment for people who have lost one or more teeth.

Teeth Cleaning

One of the most common dental treatments is teeth cleaning. This is the process of removing plaque and tartar from the teeth. Plaque is a sticky film that forms on the teeth and tartar is a hard substance that forms on the teeth.

Another type of teeth cleaning is deep cleaning. A dentist or hygienist performs this type of treatment and typically requires multiple visits.

Deep cleaning is usually done on teeth that are not easy to brush and floss. Deep clean teeth are also necessary to prevent gum disease and other complications.

Teeth Whitening

There are several types of dental treatments that will improve the appearance of your teeth. Teeth whitening is one of the most popular options and it can be done in a variety of ways.

You can get your teeth whitened at the dentist or you can use over-the-counter products to do it yourself. There are also a number of whitening tubes of toothpaste and gels available.

If you want a more dramatic result, you can get veneers or bonding.

Dental Bridges

When it comes to dental bridges, there are three main types:

Traditional Bridges

These are the most common type of bridges and are made by creating a crown for the tooth on either side of the empty space, and then attaching a false tooth in the middle.

Cantilever Bridges

These are just similar to traditional bridges, but only require a crown on one side.

Maryland Bridges

These bridges are made by attaching metal bands to the natural teeth on either side of the empty space and then attaching a false tooth in the middle.

No matter which type of bridge you choose, you can assure that you will have a restored smile on your face!

Which of These Types of Dental Treatments Do You Need?

If you really want to improve your smile, there are many different types of dental treatments that exist today. From teeth whitening to dental bridges, there is a treatment option for everyone.
