Dental Scanners Are Technology That Take Dentistry To A New Level

The lightweight dental scanners by Medit are equal to the best scanners on the market but at a far less price and allowing you to export scanned files in different formats.

Dental problems can cause a lot of trouble. Everybody visiting their dentist wants to know that their dentist keeps up with the latest development in digital dentistry to ensure the best treatments. It was during the 1970s that we heard about dental computer-aided design (CAD) systems, but since then Intraoral cameras and 3D scanners are used to ensure even better oral care.

All about dental scanners

Digital scans are stored in a patient’s file

The application of dental scanners in a dental practice enhances the entire hygiene process of care. The digital scans can be stored in the patient’s file and used again if needs be. Intraoral scanning is used a lot by dentists to design and fabricate restorations and chairside scans allow for immediate viewing of images.

The Medit i500 is an easy, affordable entry into digital dentistry and it is a scanner from the Korean digital imaging company. They have released a number of scanners but the i500, an intraoral scanner, is highly sought after as an intraoral scanner, being fast, easy and also having one of the smaller scanner heads on the market.

More comfort and less contact

These dental scanners are so useful to dentists because they can see inside the patient’s mouth. The dentist can show the patient a picture of their mouth and then the images are saved for future reference.

The compact and lightweight scanner is able to be maneuvered inside the patient’s mouth and while this may seem uncomfortable for the patient it is not at all. In fact, using the dental scanner ensures far more comfort for the patient than the mouth mold.

Not so long ago, dentists would submit the plaster mold impression to the dental laboratory but things have quickly escalated and now, with a more digital process, there is this less contact inside the mouth and restorations can be delivered that much quicker.

In fact, information is delivered digitally to the dental lab. Digital tech restorations reduce treatment time significantly and replacing teeth has literally never been easier, more accurate, reduced restoration costs, and less data errors.

Instead of waiting weeks for dental prosthetics or dentures for instances, it is a case of hours or a few days. You get amazingly accurate results for the likes of dental bridges, fixed partial dentures, single crowns, inlays, copings and frameworks,

The beauty of these dental scanners is that it is merely a case of connecting it to a suitable computer by USB. Prices for the scanners have dropped over the years too so that all dental professionals no longer need to worry about the initial investment cost.
