What Can Happen When You Have Poor Dental Hygiene

Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that forms on the teeth and gums. If plaque is not removed, it can harden and turn into tartar. Tartar can only be removed by a dentist or dental hygienist.

Gumline Cavity

One of the things that can happen is that you can get a Gumline Cavity. This is a cavity that forms along the gum line, and it can be difficult to see. If it is not treated, it can cause a lot of damage to your teeth and gums.

Gingivitis

If you don’t take care of your teeth and gums, you’re at risk of developing gingivitis, which is a form of periodontal disease. Gingivitis is characterized by red, swollen, and bleeding gums.

If you have gingivitis, your gums may be tender or painful when you brush your teeth or eat. You may also notice that your gums are receding.

Risk for Heart Disease and Stroke

The mouth is home to millions of bacteria, some of which are harmful. When these harmful bacteria build up in the mouth, they can cause problems. Bacteria that build up in the mouth can enter the bloodstream and cause inflammation in the arteries, which can lead to a heart attack or stroke.

Poor Dental Hygiene Causes Cancer

You are at a higher risk of developing cancer when you have poor dental health. The bacteria in your mouth can get into your bloodstream and cause inflammation. This can lead to the formation of tumors.

It can also cause other health problems, such as gum disease and tooth decay. Good dental hygiene is important for preventing cancer.

Keep Your Teeth and Gums Healthy

If you have poor dental hygiene, you are at risk for many problems. These include gum disease, tooth decay, and bad breath. You may also be at risk for more serious problems, such as heart disease and stroke.
